History

Introduction

Renfrewshire Ladies' County Golf Association (RLCGA) was founded in 1909 along with Ayrshire, Dumbartonshire, Argyllshire and Lanarkshire and many other Counties in Scotland. Dumbartonshire was changed to Dunbartonshire in the 1920's.

History

A composite history of the RLCGA, its Office Bearers, Competition Winners and notable achievements of some of its members can be found in the 200 page Centenary Book written by one of our longstanding members and golf historian, Carol Fell. It also includes an account and photographs of the Renfrewshire Centenary Events and Celebrations, which commenced with the Centenary Dinner on the 24th February 2009 where Ruth Henderson from Williamwood GC read out her Centenary Poem.

A matter of weeks later on 7th March the Scottish Ladies County Golf Association held their Centenary lunch in Perth. Renfrewshire was one of nine counties celebrating it's centenary in 2009 and the lunch was attended by 211 past and present County officials and county team members from across Scotland. This event is also well covered in the book.
