Following the Committee Meeting on Wednesday evening (17th February), please find below an update regarding competitions for 2021:
Sadly, we have decided to abandon the 2020/21 Winter 4-ball Better Ball Knock-out Competition due to the continued Scottish Government and Scottish Golf Covid-19 restrictions and travel limitations. This is a disappointment to us all.
In the hope that we can play in four balls by May, we are looking to move the County Foursomes at Elderslie Golf Club scheduled on 26th April to Bonnyton Golf Club on 20th May. This would mean, again if possible, that the Spring Meeting scheduled for 20th May at Bonnyton would now take place at Elderslie on 26th April.
Obviously these plans with regard to the County Foursomes and Spring Meeting are subject to Covid -19 restrictions being eased and Golf Clubs being able to accommodate visitors. A further update will be issued as soon as we are in a position to do so.
We are also keen for the County Championship to be played this year and we are liaising closely with Ranfurly Castle Golf Club as to how this might happen based on covid, travel, clubhouse and visitor restrictions. At the moment the scheduled dates are 5th to 7th May but, if necessary, it may be we have to re-arrange the qualifying format and/or date to later in the golfing calendar. We appreciate this might not be ideal for those ladies who take time off work to participate in this event but we will do our utmost to keep you updated as quickly as possible.
At the moment we are hoping the remainder of our golfing calendar will go ahead but, again, this will all be dependent on the restrictions going forward. It may also be that there is a shorter lead-in time for booking entries and a limited field.
Little did we know in March 2020 that we could potentially see our 2021 golfing calendar affected by the pandemic but let's hope that with the vaccine roll-out, restrictions will start to ease and we'll soon be able to meet up and play competitive golf again.
