It is with deep sadness that I have to announce that Heather Anderson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, 8 November 2021.
Heather had a very illustrious golfing career, winning the Scottish Ladies Championship at West Kilbride in 1969. She was also Renfrewshire County Champion 9 times and played for the County Team over a span of 32 years.
International-wise, Heather’s career took off in 1964, playing for Scotland in both Sweden and France. She led the team in the European Championship and then two months later Scotland won the Home Internationals at Western Gailes. This was when Heather defeated the National Champion of England, Ireland and Wales, finishing the series with 100% success and earning the honour of being asked to play for GB&I.
In 1980 Heather turned professional for around 5 years. She was only the second lady professional in Scotland at the time.
Heather’s life story features in the RLCGA County Centenary Book courtesy of Colin Farquharson (p36-p38).

Our thoughts are with Heather’s daughter Lesley at this sad time and funeral arrangements will be announced when available.
