In warm (and sometimes sunny) weather, Renfrewshire’s County Foursomes was played today at Bonnyton Golf Club – our first golf competition since 2019! Even an unexpected 7 mile road diversion did not stop our ladies getting there with only a few team shuffles required at the end to run to time.
24 couples participated in today’s event – 8 couples less than our original field due to the continuing restrictions applied to Glasgow. Let’s hope these restrictions ease in the next week or so.
The course was in great condition and, although the greens proved tricky for some, it was not so for Jan Macnab (Ranfurly Castle) and Alison Macnab (Lochwinnoch) (pictured) who won the scratch with a gross 81 and playing off a combined handicap of 12, just pipping last year’s winners Carol McNally and Alyson McGinnigle, (Williamwood) and also winning the handicap with a 69.
The top scratch and handicap scores were as follows;
SCRATCH
1st Jan Macnab – Ranfurly Castle 81
Alison Macnab – Lochwinnoch
2nd Carol McNally – Williamwood 82
Alyson McGinnigle – Williamwood
3rd Jennifer Graham – Haggs Castle 90
Carol Smith – Haggs Castle
HANDICAP
1st Jan Macnab – Ranfurly Castle 69

2nd Susan Reid – Kilmacolm 70
Barbara Lyle – Whitecraigs
3rd Roisin Black – Gleddoch 71
